How to join

You need DayZ. You do not need to install anything by hand — the mods come down with the connection.

Server name
[EU] BZA Chernarus 1PP | Vanilla+ | PvP | Replay
Next wipe in

Tuesday 13 October, 19:00 CEST

The map wiped on Tuesday 1 September at 19:00 CEST, so it started from nothing that evening: nobody has a head start beyond the hours they played since. Anything you build stands until the next wipe — the date above — and the founder race is open again on this map right now. The server goes down for a wipe itself and is back a few minutes later.

The quickest way

  1. Open the DayZ launcher

The one Steam opens when you press Play on DayZ.

  2. Servers → Direct connect

    Enter 57.128.250.248 and port 2302.

  3. Let it download the mods

The launcher subscribes you to what the server runs and starts the game. First time is about 150 MB, nearly all of it PaintMod's textures. After that it only pulls updates.

You can also find us in the in-game server browser. The name in the list is [EU] BZA Chernarus 1PP | Vanilla+ | PvP | Replay, sometimes with a short tag added for the week — | FRESH WIPE right now. Typing BZA Chernarus into the name filter is enough to find it either way. Same in the DZSA Launcher, which most modded-server players already have.

First person only. This is a 1PP server: third person is off. If you have never played 1PP, give it three sessions — it is a different game, and it is the reason people play Chernarus this way.

What loads with you

All seven are pulled automatically. Three of them put something in the world, and all three are ours: PaintMod's paint kits and Military Paint Cans, the code lock, and the glider's kit, stand and pack. Everything else they touch is left alone — no vanilla loot table, weapon or armour stat is changed.

ModWhat it is for
BZA PaintModOur own mod — weapon and gear painting. Guide.
BZA Code LockOur own mod — keypad locks for fence gates. Type the code once and the gate remembers you. Spawns in industrial and farm loot. How it works.
BZA GliderOur own mod — a hang glider you build, fly and fold back into a pack. The kit, the stand and the pack spawn in loot. Guide.
Community Framework (CF)A shared library other mods build on. No gameplay of its own.
Autorun UpgradedNumpad + to auto-run. Stamina drains exactly as normal.
Ear PlugsTurns the volume down in-game, for voice chat over loud engines.
VPPAdminToolsAdmin tooling. Players have no access to it.

Base building is vanilla here. Same parts, same health, same materials — you build exactly as you always did. The only addition is a code lock for gates. How it works is on the about page.

If something goes wrong

The server kicked me right after connecting

Almost always a version mismatch. The server checks that your PaintMod build matches its own and kicks anything else — otherwise you would see paint that is not there. Restart the DayZ Launcher so it picks up the mod update, then reconnect. We announce updates in Discord before they go out.

The Paint action does not appear on an item

Either that item is excluded by design, or the vanilla model has no paintable texture zone. The full list is on the weapons and gear page.

I painted something and nobody else can see it

Paint is applied and validated server-side and synced to everyone, so this should not happen. If it does, report it in #bug-reports with the item and roughly when — that is exactly the kind of thing we want to hear about.

I loaded PaintMod on another server and painting does nothing

Expected. The mod on the Workshop is only the client half; the part that validates and applies paint is private and runs only here.

Before your first session

  • Join the Discord. Restart warnings, wipe dates and promo codes go there and nowhere else.
  • Time your login. Restarts are announced at 01:00, 07:00, 13:00 and 19:00 CEST and happen about fifteen minutes later. Town loot carries over, so this is not a fresh-loot window; what re-rolls are the four paint caches at 35% each. That is the run worth timing.
  • Read the rules — they are short and they are on the about page.
  • Read the cans before you carry them. A Military Paint Can wears the camo it teaches, so the label tells you whether it is worth a slot. Opening one for a combination you already know says ALREADY KNOWN and is consumed with nothing gained.
